Our Team
Brian Szymanik, AIA. Principal
A graduate of the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania (Post-Professional Master of Architecture) and the Tyler School of Art at Temple University (Bachelor of Architecture, Professional Degree), Brian Szymanik co-founded our studio with David Quadrini in 2013.
Brian has successfully designed projects at both small and large scales, from mid-rise apartment buildings to higher education athletic facilities to small urban residential renovations and additions. Recent work developed under Brian’s direction includes Laboratory Renovations at the University of Pennsylvania’s Singh Center for Nanotechnology, Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, and the Moore Building at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Brian has also worked with Shift Capital on a number of new residential projects in Philadelphia’s Kensington Neighborhood as well as Zion Baptist Church imagining a renovation / restoration of their existing 1920’s era building at Broad and Venango Streets.
Brian’s work has been published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Architect, The Philadelphia City Paper, The Philadelphia Business Journal, CONTEXT: The Journal of AIA Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Tribune, Grid Magazine, and on www.PlanPhilly.com.
Brian is currently an Lecturer at the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania teaching design studios with a focus on housing and social justice. He has also served on the faculties of at Temple University's Tyler School of Art teaching graduate and undergraduate architectural design studios, at Marywood University's School of Architecture as a Visiting Professor of Practice and as an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University's College of Architecture and the Built Environment.
A registered architect in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia, Brian is a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialization in Building Design and Construction. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architect's Philadelphia Chapter and was awarded that organization's Young Architect Award in 2013.
David Quadrini, AIA. Principal
A graduate of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design at Drexel University (Bachelor of Architecture, Professional Degree), David Quadrini co-founded our studio with Brian Szymanik in 2013.
David's work has served a variety of institutional, civic, and cultural clients including the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, the Philadelphia Zoo, the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, and Weaver's Way Co-op in Chestnut Hill. Recent work developed under David’s direction includes renovations of the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter at the University of Pennsylvania, a new Emergency Disaster Services Facility for the Salvation Army, and multiple projects for Urban Axes across the country.
David's work has been published in Dwell Magazine, Grid Magazine, and on CBS 3 Eyewitness News.
David is currently a member of the faculty in the Division of Architecture and Environmental Design at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. He has served as an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University's College of Architecture and the Built Environment teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th-year design studios. He has been an invited design critic at Drexel University, The Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia University, and Marywood University.
A registered architect in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York, David is a founding partner at Bench Dog Design, an interdisciplinary woodworking studio whose work has been exhibited regionally and published nationally. David is actively engaged in his community and serves on the Zoning Committee of the Fishtown Neighborhood Association as well as the Steering Committee, Buyers Committee, and Building Committee of the Kensington Community Food Co-op.
Connor Pritz
Connor joined Studio6mm in January 2017 after completing his graduate studies at Penn State University (Bachelor of Architecture and Post-Professional Master of Architecture). As a member of the Material Matters research cluster, his thesis work addressed craft building techniques, materials process, and the effective integration of high and low-tech modes of production.
Connor brings prior experience working on a variety of project types and scales, ranging from pharmaceutical laboratories, to theaters, to adaptive re-use residential projects in Philadelphia. He is currently pursuing professional licensure and LEED accreditation, and is driven by a passion for good craft at all scales of design, from master planning to furniture making.
Connor’s recent work with the firm includes the design of a mixed use residential and commercial project in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood along with experience working on multiple projects for the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania including laboratory renovations in the Towne Building, Hayden Hall, and the Singh Center for Nanotechnology.
Paul Steege, AIA
Paul Steege teamed with Studio 6mm in 2015 in a strategic partnership to better serve clients in the higher education and research facility realms. Since that time, Paul has transitioned to a role supporting Studio 6mm as a Senior Technical Consultant for our Laboratory Practice. With over 35 years experience as Principal of Paul Steege & Associates, Paul brings a wealth of expertise to augment Studio 6mm’s range of capabilities. Paul works with Studio 6mm to deliver high-performance solutions to the rigorous needs of our higher education clients.
Paul’s recent work at the University of Pennsylvania with Studio 6mm includes the renovations of multiple laboratories for the School of Engineering & Applied Science, office renovations and fit-out of multiple floors of the Franklin Building, replacement of window systems at the John Morgan Building, and upgrades to 3609-11 Locust Walk.
